Signal failure on Seibu Shinjuku Line
Signal failure on the Seibu Shinjuku line, Toyko, early this morning caused suspension of train services and affected some 168,000 commuters.
Technical problems and cancellations such as this can be crippling to metropolitan rail services in Japan. Trains run to strict schedules and disruptions often, as in this case, have effects which cascade down throughout the timetable. It’s agony for commuters who rely on the normally punctual and efficient tail service.
